RAINY DAY.

There’s something nice about the almost perfect symmetry of wet and dry on these rainy day trees.

HIGH SCORE.

The Pacman lamp by Portugese designer Jose Esteves is a smart, contemporary take on a vintage silhouette.

FINALLY, KAHN IN NYC.

This is Louis Kahn’s 1973 sketch for the FDR memorial park on the southern tip of Roosevelt Island. It culminates in a “room” of white granite slabs set an inch apart to let in slivers of light. The design was shelved for more than 30 years, but is finally under construction and set to open in fall 2012. Can’t wait.

BRONZE AGE.

Jaime Hayon’s bronze Time Piece tables for Se London have a certain sculptural appeal.

TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

Ellsworth Kelly’s 1957 “Sculpture for a Large Wall” is now on display at MoMA. It spans over 65 feet and the aluminum panels create a nice play of shadows, I think.

URBAN FOLIAGE.

Who says a spring palette has to be about pastels? Bring on the contrast and fresh flavor.
